SUPPORT FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAMS

WMC allocates funds annually to enhance public school music programs in

  City of Charlottesville
  Albemarle County
  Fluvanna County
  Greene County
  Louisa County
  Madison County
  Nelson County
  Orange County

The process:

  • In October, public school music teachers are invited to submit proposals detailing the amount of the funding request and how it would be used
  • Applications are usually due the Tuesday before Thanksgiving
  • Teachers are notified and award checks are mailed by early January
  • Post-award feedback on impact of award is due by end of May

WMC volunteers serve as coaches for beginning band and orchestra students in Charlottesville, especially those without access to private instrument instruction. Coaching sessions last about 40 minutes, and there are many possible time slots during school hours. If you would like to help a beginning instrument player experience the joy of making music and develop the skills and confidence to continue, contact us at info@wednesdaymusicclub.org

WMC funds have been used for the 5 rolling xylophone stands - already in use with our students . . . The marimba stand is used daily - it has made a huge difference . . . We couldn’t afford our recorder program without your grant! . . . Thank you all so much for your tremendous gifts and amazing support!
